KTZ and PSA are strengthening cooperation to develop the transport and transit potential of Kazakhstan
A memorandum on further cooperation between Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ), PSA, KPMC Ltd and G-trans Service was signed as part of the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Singapore.
KTZ and PSA will continue strategic partnership to develop the transport and transit potential of Kazakhstan, within the framework of which a joint venture KPMC Ltd was created for the development of the Middle Corridor (TITR). Also, together with Global DTC Pte Ltd, part of the PSA group, a digital transport corridor has been developed, which ensures seamless exchange of transportation documents and makes Kazakhstan attractive for international shippers.
The signed document is aimed at expanding interaction between KTZ and PSA. The parties agreed to join efforts to increase the volume of cargo transit via Kazakhstan through the synergy of the assets of both companies operating in China. Today, KTZ operates railway terminals in China in the dry port of Xi’an and the seaport of Lianyungang. The assets of the PSA group of companies include marine terminals in 6 ports, railway terminals in 13 cities.
The memorandum envisages the development of a railway terminal at Zhetygen station as part of the project “Industrial and transport hub in the Almaty agglomeration”. The possibility of implementing the project will be studied by KPMC Ltd and Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics company G-trans Service.
The Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his speech at the Kazakhstan -Singapore Business Forum noted the close relationship between the countries and gave the example of a synergistic partnership between KTZ and the Singaporean company PSA International, aimed at expanding the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
– This route can radically change the level of Eurasian cooperation. This is the shortest and most sustainable route from Central and Eastern Asia to Europe. We believe that Singaporean companies and financial institutions can benefit significantly by exploring business and investment opportunities in this area,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
